Effective Date: This Privacy Policy Statement was last updated on September 20, 2017.
Acknowledgement and Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
This Privacy Policy Statement (hereinafter referred to as "Statement") sets forth the current privacy practices of the Crushing Dyslexia Online Service ("Service") with regard to the information we collect when you, as the User ("User," "Users," "User's," "you," or "your"), or your computer interact with the Crushing Dyslexia ("Crushing Dyslexia," "we," "our," or "us") website ("website" or "Site"). We respect the privacy rights of all Users of our website, and are committed to protecting your privacy to the greatest degree possible. By using our website, you acknowledge that you have read and fully understand the terms and conditions of this Statement, that you accept and agree with them, and that you freely consent to the information collection and use practices as described herein. If this is not the case, you should immediately cease all usage of this website.
We reserve the right, at any time, to change, alter, amend, or update the terms and conditions of this Statement without prior notice. Any such modifications shall become effective immediately upon being posted to our website. (The above date will be changed whenever such postings occur.) Your continued use of the Service after any such modifications are posted constitutes your acknowledgement and acceptance of the Statement and its modifications. Except as provided for herein, this Statement may not be modified in any way.
Use of the Site, and the activities and services (collectively, the "Services") available on and through the Site, are governed by our Terms of Service Agreement.
Services Available on the Site
Crushing Dyslexia may make certain Services available to Users of the Site. By way of example, but not limitation, you may be able to post comments on a forum, vote in a poll, submit a Group listing, or submit an Event listing. Users are solely responsible for any information and other content they post on and through the Site. Users should be aware that when they voluntarily disclose personal information (e.g., name, email address, phone number, etc.) on or through the public portions of the Site (e.g., forums, group listings, event listings, etc.), such information is generally accessible to and may be collected and used by others, and may result in your receiving unsolicited messages from other people. Users of the Site are encouraged to exercise caution when providing personal information about themselves. By accessing this Site, you agree to, and do hereby release and discharge Crushing Dyslexia, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, and employees, from any and all liability which may arise from your use of the Site.
Participating Merchant Policies
Related services and offerings with links from this website, including vendor sites, have their own privacy statements that can be viewed by clicking on the corresponding links within each respective website. Online merchants and others who participate in our Services are encouraged to participate in industry privacy initiatives and to take a responsible attitude towards consumer privacy. However, since we do not have direct control over the policies or practices of participating merchants and other third parties, we hereby expressly disclaim any responsibility for the privacy practices or contents of those sites. We recommend and encourage that you always review the privacy policies of merchants and other third parties before you provide any personal information to, or complete any transaction with such parties.
Information We Collect and How We Use It
Crushing Dyslexia collects certain information from and about its Users in three ways: 1) directly from our Web Server Logs, 2) by using Cookies, and 3) directly from the User.
1. Web Server Logs
When you visit our website, we track certain information in order to administer the Site and analyze its usage. Examples of information we may track include:
- Your Internet protocol (IP) address
- The kind of browser or computer you use
- The number of links you access within the Site
- The state or country from which you accessed the Site
- The date and time of your visit to the Site
- The name of your Internet service provider
- The web page from which you linked to the Site
- The pages you viewed while on the Site
Crushing Dyslexia reserves the right to share aggregated Site statistics with partner companies, companies that are considering advertising on our Site, and other companies conducting business with us.
2. Using Cookies
We may use "cookies" in order to personalize or enhance your User experience. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies typically cannot be used to either run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can typically only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature in order to save you time. For example, if you navigate within a website, or personalize a web page, a cookie helps the website to recall your specific information and preferences on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of delivering relevant content to you, and eases website navigation by providing and saving your preferences and login information, as well as providing personalized functionality.
You have the ability to accept, decline, and manage cookies from within your browser. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you so desire. However, if you reject cookies by changing your browser settings, please be aware that this may disable some of the functionality on our website or other websites.
Although we do not currently do so, we reserve the right to allow future partner companies to place a cookie on your computer if there is an overriding customer value to be gained by doing so (as an example, if we decide to merge our Site with another website that relies on third-party cookies).
Again, although we do not currently do so, we reserve the right to use a third party advertising service to display advertisements on our Site. Sometimes these advertising services will utilize cookies in order to display specific advertisements to Users based upon, among other things, a User's web surfing habits. If we ever decide to use such a service, we will not have access to these cookies, nor will we know what information is contained in them. As stated previously, you may restrict the placement of cookies on your computer through the controls available in your web browser, or you may routinely delete the cookies from your computer.
3. Personal Information Supplied by Users
Users of our website can register to purchase certain products and services, and for various other reasons. When you register, we will request some personal information, such as: name, address, email, telephone number, and other relevant information. If you are purchasing a product or service, we may also request some financial information. Any financial information we collect is used only to bill you for the products or services you have purchased. If you purchase by credit card, this information may be forwarded to your credit card provider, or other credit card processing company. For other types of registrations, we will ask for the pertinent information. You may also be asked to disclose personal information to us so that we can provide assistance and information back to you. For example, such information may be warranted in order to provide you with online technical support and troubleshooting.
However, we will not disclose any personally identifiable information we collect from you to third parties without your permission except to the extent necessary, including:
- To fulfill your requests for products or services
- To protect ourselves from liability
- To respond to a legal process, or comply with a law
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or liquidation of the company
Use of Web Beacons or GIF files
Crushing Dyslexia web pages may contain electronic images known as web beacons — sometimes also called single-pixel gifs — that allow us to count users who have visited those pages and to offer co-branded services. We may include web beacons in promotional email messages or newsletters in order to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon.
Some of these web beacons may be placed by third party service providers to help determine the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns or email communications. These web beacons may be used by these service providers to place a cookie on your computer. This allows the service provider to recognize your computer each time you visit certain pages or emails, and compile anonymous information in relation to those page views. This in turn enables us and our service providers to learn which advertisements and emails may help bring you to our website and how you use the Site. Crushing Dyslexia prohibits web beacons from being used to collect or access your personal information.
Information We Collect for Regular Emailing
We do not request, collect, or store the email addresses of casual Users to our Site (e.g., those who simply read Site information). We do, however, offer a blog and the option to receive additional information from us by email. To sign up for our blog, you only need to provide us with your email address.
This information shall be maintained by us and / or our emailing service, and may be used to provide you with periodic marketing and promotional notices written by us and / or other persons or entities whom we believe offer goods or services that may be of interest to you. Your email address will not be sold or shared directly with any third parties, other than our email service provider.
You can unsubscribe from our email list at any time by selecting the “Unsubscribe” option at the bottom of any email you receive as a member of our email list. You can also update your profile and / or email address by selecting the “Update” option at the bottom of any email you receive as a member of our email list.
Those who submit a group listing to one of our Groups pages will also receive occasional emails from us reminding them to check that their listing is up to date.
Polls
Although we have not yet done so, we may create polls on our Site at some time in the future. Like most online polls, our polls would have informational value only and have no scientific value. Users may vote in or view polls without having to sign in or share any personal data. Votes are legitimized via the placement of cookies, in order to help prevent, to the best extent possible, voters from voting more than once in the same poll.
Surveys
Although we have not yet done so, in the future we may conduct surveys in which we may ask Users to provide certain personal information (e.g., email address) and demographic information (e.g., zip code). We may use this information to, among other things, improve the features, functionality, look, feel, and content of the Site and our Services; and may share this information with others in an aggregate, non-personal form. Users will not be required to participate in any surveys.
Contests
Although we have not yet done so, in the future we may conduct contests on the Site. Contests involving prizes may require a User to submit an email address and his or her full name, street address, and phone number in order to enter. If this is the case, the email address and phone number will only be used for the purpose of determining and notifying entrants if they have won or not, and the street address will only be used for the purpose of mailing the prize. All non-winner information will be deleted once a winner is determined and notification has been sent.
Links
The Site includes links to other web sites ("Linked Sites"). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of the Linked Sites, and hereby expressly disclaim all responsibility and liability which may arise therefrom.
Technical Information
Settings, technical, and other information concerning a User's computer, such as an operating system, browser version, connectivity, various communication parameters, and other information related to the operation and interaction of the Site and our Services may be collected by us, subject to the provisions herein. This information is collected solely in order to provide Users with, or access to, the Site and the Services, and to evaluate such User's use of the Site. The collection of this information is not intended to include any personally identifiable information about any individual User.
Tracking Usage Patterns
We gather information and usage patterns related to our Users' use of the Site and the Services, including, without limitation, real time tracking of other web sites linked to and from this Site, in order to better understand how our Users, as a group, use the Site and our Services, and the various features thereof, as well as to help us provide personalized offerings, and to conduct market research and other commercial activities.
Security
We strive to protect our Users' personal information and privacy to the greatest extent possible; however, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Thus, although we will exercise great care to provide secure transmissions of personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of information disclosed online, and Users hereby agree to use the Site at their own risk.
Legal Disclosure
We shall, pursuant to any valid legal process (such as a search warrant, subpoena, or court order), allow access to all available and relevant information in order to comply with such legal process, and to protect our rights and property. If warranted, we may also allow access to this information in special emergencies where any physical safety is at risk. Users' IP addresses may also be traced by us and disclosed for these purposes.
Consent to Processing
All Users of the Site and Users of the Services, including without limitation, Users from foreign countries, fully understand and unambiguously consent to the collection and processing of their personal information in the United States of America.

As noted previously, Crushing Dyslexia has the discretion to occasionally update this Statement. When we do, we will also revise the "updated" date at the top of this Privacy page. We encourage you to periodically review this Statement in order to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. Your continued use of the Service constitutes your agreement to this Statement and any updates.
